Basketball Recap: Ithaca Comes Up Short

Ithaca lost to De Soto back in December of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs were beaten by the Pirates 55-22. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

It was another big night for Kylee Venner, who went 7-for-14 on her way to 20 points along with eight steals and six boards for De Soto. That makes it three consecutive games in which Venner has scored at least a third of the Pirates' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sylvia Krueger, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Ithaca has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for De Soto, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Ithaca has already played their next game, a 46-40 defeat against Seneca on the 2nd. As for De Soto, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-36 victory against Cashton on the 2nd.
