Texas high school football: Top teams, games, players and prospects ahead of 2020 season

Duncanville, North Shore atop Lone Star State as games begin in two-tiered calendar.

The third week of the high school football season kicks off with 10 more states set to begin play. Texas will be among the next set of states to begin the high school football season with a schedule that gets underway Aug. 27 for Class 1A-4A and Oct. 1 for Class 5A-6A. As things stand, the postseason is set to begin Nov. 12 for 1A-4A and Dec. 10 for 5A-6A with championship games scheduled for Dec. 16-19 for 1A-4A and Jan. 11-15 for 5A-6A.

Texas is one of 34 states planning to play football this fall. Sixteen others plus the District of Columbia have moved their respective seasons to 2021.

In Texas, a total of 652 games are set to kick off on Friday.
