Baseball Recap: Lone Peak Starts off Right with Win over Weber

Lone Peak had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Weber Warriors. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Grady Slesk made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles.

In other batting news, Andrew Ladd was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bowen Barnes, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lone Peak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weber only posted an OBP of .333.

Weber is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Lone Peak will square off against Farmington at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Farmington has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.4 runs per game on average), something Lone Peak will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Weber, they will host West Field at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
