Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Wellington Eagles

The Mountain View Mountain Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Wellington Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mountain View took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Northridge. The Mountain Lions haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Wellington got themselves on the board against Greeley Central on Monday, but Greeley Central never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats 10-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Nate Blehm was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wellington is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. Blehm was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Deegan Kiser was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Wellington's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 2-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Owen Gabbert, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Wellington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mountain View's record is now 6-7. As for Wellington, their record now sits at 5-10.
