Cathedral Catholic came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Scripps Ranch Falcons a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Dons have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cathedral Catholic let Joshua Priest and Alex Harrington run wild. Priest went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Harrington went 2-for-3 with two runs. Trey Gudoy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Cathedral Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scripps Ranch struck out nine times.

Cathedral Catholic's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Scripps Ranch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

Looking ahead, Cathedral Catholic will take on Patrick Henry at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dons 3.1, the Patriots 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Scripps Ranch, they will challenge Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
