Basketball Game Preview: Tampa Prep Terrapins vs. Berkeley Prep Buccaneers

Tampa Prep is 1-9 against Berkeley Prep since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Tampa Prep took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Carrollwood Day 74-46. The Terrapins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep entered their tilt with Seffner Christian on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Crusaders 51-22. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Crusaders are ranked 407th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tampa Prep pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home. As for Berkeley Prep, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.

Tampa Prep might still be hurting after the 73-50 loss they got from Berkeley Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Tampa Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
