Basketball Game Preview: Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs vs. Idalia Wolves

The Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs will square off against the Idalia Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Idalia will be up against a hot Haxtun team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Haxtun came out on top against Brush by a score of 70-59 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Idalia sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 win over Kit Carson on Saturday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Idalia's win came from a few key players Haxtun will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kolby Morris, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabe Kechter, who went 5 of 7 to rack up 15 points and five boards.

Idalia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Haxtun pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points over those games. As for Idalia, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
