Nacogdoches took a 37-point loss the last time they faced off against Texas, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Dragons had just enough and edged out the Tigers 63-60. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Tigers are ranked 921st) , the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nacogdoches has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points over those games. As for Texas, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Nacogdoches will face off against rival Mt. Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Texas is set to square off against their familiar foe Tyler at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
