Basketball Recap: Hyde Park Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Hyde Park couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They had to suffer through a 66-32 loss at the hands of the Midland Christian Mustangs. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Panthers, who until this game were averaging 29.7 points allowed.

Despite the loss, Hyde Park saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cadence Mabry posted four points. Mabry is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zhi Harris, who put up 12 points.

Hyde Park's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 29-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.0 points over those games. As for Midland Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-7 record this season.

Hyde Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Midland Christian, they will face off against Brook Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Brook Hill comes in on seven and Midland Christian on nine.
