Football Game Preview: Xenia Buccaneers vs. Piqua Indians

The Xenia Buccaneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Piqua Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Piqua will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Xenia extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Buccaneers claimed a resounding 52-7 win over Sidney. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 485th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Piqua and West Carrollton had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Indians breezed past the Pirates to the tune of 49-8 on Friday. The Indians pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pirates cut but never quite recovered from.

Xenia's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Piqua, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3.

Everything went Xenia's way against Piqua in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Xenia made off with a 30-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
