Baseball Recap: Ten Straight Home Victories for Prairie View

While Prairie View put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Brighton. The Thunderhawks walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Bulldogs. The Thunderhawks have beaten the Bulldogs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

Favi Gaeta made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Giovanni Tarin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played.

Prairie View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Prairie View pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Brighton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie View will square off against Chaparral at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Brighton, they will challenge Vista PEAK Prep at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bison have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
