Basketball Recap: Jefferson Area Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jefferson Area can now relate to. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buchtel Griffins on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Griffins are ranked 74th).

Jefferson Area moved to 20-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points over those games. As for Buchtel, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Jefferson Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buchtel, they will face off against Glenville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
