Softball Recap: Southeast Guilford Falcons vs. Page Pirates
In what's become a running theme this season, Southeast Guilford gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over the Page Pirates. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southeast Guilford.
Julia Whiteside was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Whiteside was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kathryn Jenkins-Cowart, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jessica Wilson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
On Page's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keira Mayo, who went 3-for-4 with a triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyion Pearson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Southeast Guilford now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Page, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
