Softball Recap: Southwest Florida Christian Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Southwest Florida Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lely, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The King's put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 15-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the King's have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Braelyn Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Natalie Recker was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Candice Chime, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Southwest Florida Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Southwest Florida Christian pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lely, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Looking ahead, Southwest Florida Christian will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Community School of Naples at 4:30 p.m. As for Lely, they are taking a road trip to square off against Seacrest Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Stingrays have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.11 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
