Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Victorious

Santa Fe's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 56-55 photo finish over the Port Neches-Groves Indians.

Aidan Jewell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Kaidan Mata was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points.

Santa Fe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February.

Santa Fe's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Port Neches-Groves, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.

Santa Fe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-42 defeat against Bridgeland on the 27th. As for Port Neches-Groves, they will host Port Arthur Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Port Arthur Memorial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Port Neches-Groves likes a good challenge.
