Football Recap: Hawthorne Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Hawthorne unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Newberry Panthers on Monday, falling 25-0.

Even if they lost, Hawthorne's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut T'Myrah Carter.

Newberry now has a winning record of 3-2.

When Hawthorne and Newberry next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Hawthorne will face off against Santa Fe and their five-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Newberry will try to stop Buchholz's five-game winning streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th.
