Basketball Preview: Lakeside Panthers vs. Effingham County Rebels
The Lakeside Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Effingham County Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lakeside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
On Saturday, Lakeside humbled the Mustangs with a 83-44 victory. Given Lakeside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Mustangs are ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakeside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ty Jones out in front who scored 11 points along with six assists. Bryce Reynierson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Effingham County lost to the Terrors on the road by a decisive 51-36 margin on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Effingham County has scored all season.
Lakeside has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for Effingham County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.
Lakeside came up short against the Rebels when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 59-55. Can Lakeside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
