Volleyball Recap: Weeki Wachee Hornets vs. Citrus Hurricanes

If Weeki Wachee was riding high off their 3-0 takedown of Hudson last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Weeki Wachee Hornets fell just short of the Citrus Hurricanes by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Citrus' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Merchant, who had 11 aces. The dominant performance also gave Merchant a new career-high in aces.

Weeki Wachee's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Citrus, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-6 record.

Weeki Wachee will take on Nature Coast Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Citrus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hernando at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hernando will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Citrus surely won't give up without a fight.
