Softball Recap: Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Columbia City Eagles by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Mackenzie Nees was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Prairie Heights at 5:30 p.m. on April 9. As for Columbia City, they will face off against Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
