Softball Preview: Clinton Comets vs. Adirondack Wildcats

Clinton is 0-9 against Adirondack since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Comets will venture away from home to take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.

Clinton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mt. Markham, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Comets fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 11-9 on Monday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Adirondack). They never let Dolgeville get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Friday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Allison Croniser made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emma Weiler was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brook Henry, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Adirondack always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
