Basketball Game Preview: North Rose-Wolcott Cougars vs. Gananda Central Blue Panthers

North Rose-Wolcott is 0-10 against Gananda Central since February of 2020 but things could change on Wednesday. The North Rose-Wolcott Cougars will head out to challenge the Gananda Central Blue Panthers at 7:00 p.m.

On Monday, North Rose-Wolcott came up short against East Rochester and fell 62-49. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 771st, while the Bombers are ranked 130th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gananda Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They took their matchup on Monday with ease, bagging an 85-53 victory over Avoca Central. The Blue Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 29 points or more this season.

North Rose-Wolcott better keep an eye on Owen Switzer. He was instrumental in Gananda Central's win, putting up 20 points. Those 20 points gave Switzer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braedon Caviness, who posted 14 points.

Gananda Central's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.5 points. As for North Rose-Wolcott, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

North Rose-Wolcott was taken down by Gananda Central 85-36 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point North Rose-Wolcott was down 48-15.
