Baseball Game Preview: Crimson Cliffs Mustangs vs. Timpanogos Timberwolves

The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs will take on the Timpanogos Timberwolves at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Crimson Cliffs heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Monday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (8-6), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Tyler Ransom was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, MASON BURBIDGE made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sam Chappell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Timpanogos faced Bear River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Timberwolves fell 9-5 to the Bears. The Timberwolves' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Cooper Hawkes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Timpanogos' loss dropped their record down to 23-5. As for Crimson Cliffs, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-12.
