Basketball Recap: Samuel Fistler Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Chanute Christian

After losing to Chanute Christian the last time they met, Newton HomeSchool decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Newton HomeSchool Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-28 win over Chanute Christian on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newton HomeSchool to victory, but perhaps none more so than Samuel Fistler, who posted nine points. Those nine points gave Fistler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Theo Busenitz, who had six points and ten rebounds.

Newton HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Newton HomeSchool's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Chanute Christian, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newton HomeSchool will host Smoky Valley Home Educators at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chanute Christian, they will welcome Liberty HomeSchool Alliance at 7:00 p.m. on February 17th.
