Baseball Recap: Alice Comes Up Short

Alice fell victim to Goliad and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Goliad Tigers by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Coyotes have suffered since April 16, 2024.

Nick Lopez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Alice has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. Goliad's record is now 5-6.

Alice wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-0 loss against Mission Veterans Memorial on the 1st. As for Goliad, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Refugio will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Goliad surely won't give up without a fight.
