Basketball Recap: UME Preparatory Academy Takes a Loss

UME Preparatory Academy and Newman International Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but UME Preparatory Academy had to settle for second. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newman International Academy Warriors. The contest was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but the EAGLES couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why UME Preparatory Academy lost, don't look at Will Lupton. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points along with eight boards and four blocks. Lupton has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Rollins, who earned seven points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, UME Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

UME Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Newman International Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-19 record.

As of now, neither UME Preparatory Academy nor Newman International Academy have any future games scheduled.
