Softball Recap: Gainesville Beats Belleview for Their Fourth Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Gainesville had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Belleview Rattlers. The victory was nothing new for the Hurricanes as they're now sitting on four straight.

Leanna Bourdage made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Madisyn Gillins was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Gainesville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Belleview, they moved to 16-9 with that defeat, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

Gainesville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Deltona on the 1st. Hopefully Belleview paid attention to the Hurricanes' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on the 8th.
