Baseball Game Preview: Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs vs. Williamsville Bullets

The Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs are taking a road trip to take on the Williamsville Bullets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Williamsville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Deer Creek-Mackinaw, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Deer Creek-Mackinaw turned things around against Princeville on Friday. They came out on top against the Princes by a score of 13-8.

Parker Eggenberger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Deer Creek-Mackinaw is 2-1 when Eggenberger allows one or fewer hits, but 10-14 otherwise. Eggenberger was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Keagan Brown tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Holly, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Chuck Hathaway was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Deer Creek-Mackinaw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Williamsville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Springfield Southeast on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 4-2. The Bullets' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Williamsville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, their record is now 12-15.
