Preview: Brewbaker Tech Rams vs. Central of Clay County Volunteers

The Brewbaker Tech Rams will face off against the Central of Clay County Volunteers at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Brewbaker Tech extended their postseason success on Friday against Beauregard. They claimed a resounding 50-19 win over the Hornets at home. Given Brewbaker Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Beauregard is ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brewbaker Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jillian Baine, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Baine is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Martin, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Central of Clay County stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Elmore County 43-12 at home. 43 seems to be a good number for Central of Clay County as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Central of Clay County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ramyah Billingsley out in front who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Mia Lindsey, who scored 11 points.

Brewbaker Tech has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a massive bump to their 17-14 record this season. As for Central of Clay County, they pushed their record up to 24-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Brewbaker Tech have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Central of Clay County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 20.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Brewbaker Tech strolled past Central of Clay County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 62-45. Will Brewbaker Tech repeat their success, or does Central of Clay County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
