Preview: Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons vs. Red Cloud Warriors

Wilcox-Hildreth is 7-2 against Red Cloud since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Red Cloud Warriors. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Last Friday, Wilcox-Hildreth ended up a good deal behind Alma and lost 48-32. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wilcox-Hildreth in their matchups with Alma: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Wilcox-Hildreth got a solid performance out of Micah Johnson, who scored 19 points.

Meanwhile, Red Cloud lost to Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on the road by a decisive 49-33 margin on Saturday.

Despite their loss, Red Cloud saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Wyatt Frey, who scored 9 points along with 9 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Ely, who scored 8 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's victory bumped their season record to 1-0 while Wilcox-Hildreth's loss dropped theirs to 0-2.

Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Wilcox-Hildreth have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Red Cloud, though, as they've been averaging only 5 per game. Given Wilcox-Hildreth's sizeable advantage in that area, Red Cloud will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.

Wilcox-Hildreth might still be hurting after the 49-25 defeat they got from Red Cloud in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Wilcox-Hildreth, Ben Ely (who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
