Baseball Preview: State College Little Lions vs. Cumberland Valley Eagles
The State College Little Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Cumberland Valley Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
State College not only won last Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Chambersburg. The Little Lions haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Jude Scavone tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched.
Meanwhile, Cumberland Valley waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with an 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Cumberland Valley also got a great performance from Braydon Shuttlesworth as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Siddh Patel, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kaden Schoenly was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
State College now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cumberland Valley, their record is now 6-1.
