Baseball Game Preview: Del Norte Knights vs. Valley Vikings

Del Norte is 1-9 against Valley since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Knights will venture away from home to take on the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Del Norte has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Del Norte's last matchup with Atrisco Heritage Academy could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Saturday. The Knights lost 11-1 to the Jaguars. The Knights' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Valley and Hope Christian, and Hope Christian kept the tradition alive. The Vikings fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 4-3 on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by just one run.

Thomas Velarde made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Zach Toledo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Del Norte's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18-1. As for Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.

Del Norte suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Valley in their previous meeting on April 10th. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
