Baseball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. Garrett Railroaders

The Fairfield Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Garrett Railroaders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield will be strutting in after a victory while Garrett will be coming in after a loss.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Fairfield duked it out with Churubusco on Monday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Eagles. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Hunter Kauffman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Garrett and West Noble, and West Noble kept the tradition alive. The Railroaders fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 12-11 on Saturday. On the bright side, the 11- run performance marked the Railroaders' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Jackson Ice put in work no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit. Ice was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

Ice wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Skelly, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Keagan Jobe was another, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Fairfield picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 6-2. As for Garrett, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
