Soccer Game Preview: Bridge City vs. Lumberton

Bridge City hasn't had much luck against Lumberton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bridge City Cardinals will welcome the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bridge City took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Liberty a 2-0 shutout. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cardinals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Lumberton won against East Chambers on Friday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Tuesday. Lumberton won by a goal and slipped past Little Cypress-Mauriceville 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Andrew Hansen and Jaxan Tallina scored both of Lumberton's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

The win got Lumberton back to even at 4-4-2. As for Bridge City, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Bridge City came up short against Lumberton in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Bridge City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
