Softball Preview: Murphysboro Red Devils vs. Chester Yellowjackets

The Murphysboro Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Chester Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Chester had to settle for a 6-5 loss against Red Bud on Thursday.

Elaina Lutman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Avery Hasemeyer, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Murphysboro's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Chester, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Everything went Murphysboro's way against Chester when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as Murphysboro made off with a 22-2 win.
