Softball Recap: Blanchet Catholic Takes a Loss

Blanchet Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 17-7 to the Santiam Christian Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 back in April.

Valeria Gonzalez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Carly Wise, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Blanchet Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Santiam Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blanchet Catholic will host Yamhill-Carlton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Santiam Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Pleasant Hill at 11:00 a.m.
