Basketball Recap: Bernalillo Comes Up Short

If Bernalillo was feeling good fresh off their 69-28 takedown of Valley last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bernalillo Spartans came up short against the Hope Christian Huskies on Friday, falling 60-38. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Hope Christian found their leader in sophomore Bri Bishop, who almost dropped a triple-double on 31 points, nine boards, and nine steals. With that strong performance, Bishop is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Louisa Landavazo, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Bernalillo's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Hope Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Looking ahead, Bernalillo is taking a road trip to face off against Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hope Christian, they will welcome Albuquerque Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Albuquerque Academy sitting on ten straight victories and Hope Christian on three.
