Baseball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Faith Christian Academy waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Community Christian Cyclones with a sharp 12-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-9 back in March.

Ben Reese was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Reese is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jessie Carrillo, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Griffin, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Faith Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Community Christian only managed four hits.

Faith Christian Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.6 runs over those games. As for Community Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Coming up, Faith Christian Academy will be playing at home against Goldsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Conquerors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Community Christian, they will take on Gramercy Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
