Basketball Recap: Lanett Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Lanett won the last time they faced Lee-Scott Academy and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lanett Panthers enjoyed a cozy 52-37 win over the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers who have now won four contests in a row.

Lanett got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was MaKiah White out in front who went 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points. White is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last seven games she's played. Jaylin White was another key player, putting up 13 points and seven rebounds.

Lanett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Lee-Scott Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Clarke Ivatt dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards set a new season-high mark for Ivatt. The team also got some help courtesy of Haynes Keesee, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Lanett is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Lee-Scott Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.

When Lanett and Lee-Scott Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Lanett will try to stop Loachapoka's three-game winning streak when the meet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Lee-Scott Academy will try to stop Holtville's 15-game winning streak when the meet at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
