Baseball Game Preview: Ray Bearcats vs. Globe Tigers

The Ray Bearcats will challenge the Globe Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Ray knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Globe likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Ray needed a bit of extra time to put away St. David. They skirted past the Tigers 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bearcats have posted since March 14th.

Ray got a massive performance out of James Ruiz, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Ruiz has become a key player for the Bearcats: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Chester, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ray kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.6.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Globe was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They came up short against Florence, falling 11-1.

Globe saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sir Sneezy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Ray's victory bumped their record up to 9-12-1. As for Globe, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
