After a string of six wins, the Victory Christian Academy Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Cathedral Catholic 83-77. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (71), Victory Christian Academy still had to take the loss.
Jayden Gray and Derek Edmond certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Gray scored 24 points along with seven steals and six assists, while Edmond scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Edmond has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Angel Escarcega, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Patrick O'brien was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven assists and five rebounds for Cathedral Catholic. O'brien hasn't dropped below 17 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Enos, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds.
Victory Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Cathedral Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.
