Softball Recap: Sierra Pacific's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak at Home

Sierra Pacific's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Torres Toros an 8-0 shutout. The Golden Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Haidyn Cota spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Sierra Pacific got a big performance out of Anaya Zaragoza, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Zaragoza also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kelsee Hanson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Sierra Pacific hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in six consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Sierra Pacific's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2. As for Torres, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Sierra Pacific has already played their next game, a 13-9 defeat against Tulare Western on the 8th. As for Torres, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 loss against Sierra on the 12th.
