Softball Recap: Hoggard Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Hoggard's offense. They fell just short of the Midway Raiders by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Vikings were not able to make up for their loss to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Macey Ciamillo spent all 13 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Hoggard saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Gee, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases.

Hoggard's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4. As for Midway, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoggard will take on South Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3, the Cougars 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Midway, they will face off against Fairmont at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
