Basketball Recap: Woodlawn Warriors vs. Kenwood Bluebirds
The Woodlawn Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 63-48 bruising from Kenwood. Woodlawn found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post seven fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Woodlawn had strong showings from Jordan Harding, who scored 14 points along with two blocks, and Madison Marshall, who scored nine points along with eight blocks. Serenity Best was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kenwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Arionna Hicks, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Diamond Watters, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, 15 rebounds, and 11 blocks.
Woodlawn's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-8. As for Kenwood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodlawn will take on the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Randallstown comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Kenwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulls at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hereford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully the Bluebirds like a good challenge.
