Football Recap: Spanaway Lake Sentinels vs. Rogers Rams
Spanaway Lake scored the most points they've had all season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rogers Rams. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (34), the Sentinels still had to take the loss.
Several Sentinels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malik Burns, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown. Burns got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 55 yards. Raymond Kunimoto also helped out with an impressive 92 receiving yards.
Spanaway Lake didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brandon Propst and Jeyden Wells.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rogers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josiah Taijeron, who rushed for 263 yards while picking up 10.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. Those 263 rushing yards gave Taijeron a new career-high. Martyn Hernandez was another key player, picking up 144 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Spanaway Lake's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Rogers, their record now sits at 4-6.
As of now, neither Spanaway Lake nor Rogers have any future games scheduled.
