Softball Game Preview: Arcadia Firebirds vs. Nandua Warriors

The Arcadia Firebirds will head out on the road to take on the Nandua Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arcadia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Arcadia is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Broadwater Academy on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The Firebirds haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Arcadia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Montross, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Montross is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Nandua was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They came up short against Chincoteague, falling 13-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered against the Ponies since May 10, 2022.

Nandua has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Arcadia, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Arcadia might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Nandua when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Firebirds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
