Baseball Game Preview: Elgin Comets vs. Buckeye Central Bucks

The Elgin Comets are taking a road trip to challenge the Buckeye Central Bucks at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Buckeye Central took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Elgin, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Elgin turned things around against North Baltimore on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Tigers.

Cam Elswick looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Elgin is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Peyton Zempter was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Evan James also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Buckeye Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against Seneca East, falling 14-4.

Buckeye Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Elgin, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
