Baseball Recap: Fillmore's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Fillmore came into Friday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Santa Paula Cardinals on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Flashes: when they faced off against the Cardinals on Wednesday, they had to take a 9-0 loss.

Thomas Alamillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fillmore saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JJ Jasso, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. Jasso is becoming a predictor of the Flashes' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-18 when he doesn't). Gabriel Magana also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Fillmore's record is now 5-18. As for Santa Paula, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-13.

Looking ahead, Fillmore will head out to face off against Oak Park at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Santa Paula, they will venture away from home to square off against St. Bonaventure at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Seraphs have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
