Monticello has gone 8-2 against Clinton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Monticello Sages are taking a road trip to take on the Clinton Maroons at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Monticello beat Seneca 62-56. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sages.

Meanwhile, everything went Clinton's way against Beardstown on Saturday as Clinton made off with a 66-42 win. Given the Maroons' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Tigers are ranked 613th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clinton has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Monticello, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Monticello came up short against Clinton in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 63-50. Can Monticello avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
