Basketball Recap: West Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but West unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 96-44 loss at the hands of the Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why West lost, don't look at Ayden Poteet. Despite the final result, he shot 64% from the field on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Poteet is becoming a predictor of the Trojans' success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Cayden Overcash was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

West's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Stephenville, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-58 loss against Alvarado on the 6th. As for Stephenville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-35 victory against China Spring on the 6th.
