Softball Recap: Meridian Takes a Loss

Meridian was the 7-3 winner over Marshall when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Hawks wound up with the same score they had in their last game (3-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Ashley Schelling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 12 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Meridian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Clapp, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Marshall, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That lines up perfectly with their 18-6 record this season.

Meridian will square off against Williamsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Marshall, they will take on Pinckneyville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
